In his native Fresno, California, Jalen Green of the Houston Rockets sponsored a youth basketball camp at Hoover High School. Students from first grade to eighth grade allegedly attended the camp.
Green made a good gesture, but he was unaware of what was about to happen. In a popular video from his camp, Green was tricked out of his shoes by a child.
In response to the young man’s apparent dream shake, Green played defence. Hakeem Olajuwon, a Hall of Fame centre for the Rockets, popularised the manoeuvre.
As they attacked the court
As they attacked the court, the campers’ children screamed with joy. Their opportunity to compete in front of NBA players was incredible.
Scottie Barnes, the current Rookie of the Year, Christian Wood, and Josh Christopher were all guests of Green at the camp.
Both Brandon Boston Jr. of the Los Angeles Clippers and MarJon Beauchamp, a rookie for the Milwaukee Bucks, were present to offer their support. In an interview with ABC30’s Bri Mellon, Barnes said he views Green as a brother.
Green attended San Joaquin Memorial High School
Green attended San Joaquin Memorial High School while living in Fresno, California, as a child. Before going to Prolific Prep in Napa for his senior year, he attended there for his first three years of high school.
Despite being one of the best recruits in his class, he decided to sign a one-year deal with the NBA G League Ignite. Green was one of the top prospects for the 2021 NBA Draft, along with Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley, so the decision paid off.
In addition, Green is only the third player of Filipino heritage in NBA history. Jordan Clarkson and Raymond Townsend made up the other two.
The Houston Rockets selected Jalen Green
The Houston Rockets selected Jalen Green with the second overall pick in the previous draught. Green had a difficult first half of the season before picking up his play following the All-Star break.
He was named to the All-Rookie First Team after finishing the season averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. On his team, the youthful Rockets star finished second in scoring and first in made three-pointers.
Over 20 points were scored in 17 of his final 25 games. Additionally, he finished his streak with five games with 30 or more points. It was the second-longest 30-plus point streak for a rookie since the 1971-72 season.
