Ja Morant Injury Update: What Happened to Memphis Grizzlies Star Player?

Ja Morant

As of right now, Ja Morant’s 2023–24 NBA season has only consisted of nine games. The National Basketball Association community is left wondering what happened to Ja Morant after he suffered an injury and missed the entirety of the season.

Even though the most talented player for the Memphis Grizzlies was having a great season, no one saw this unfortunate event coming. Upon his return, he was the driving force behind the team’s winning streak of four consecutive games.

Morant finished the season with an average of 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 8.1 assists across nine games. Between 27.5% and 47.1% of his three-point shots were successful. The Memphis Grizzlies had a record of 6-19 before Morant’s return, but they had improved to 13-23 and were 7-4 amidst his return.

Grizzlies officials: “At Saturday’s training session, Ja Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder. Following ongoing soreness and instability, Morant underwent an MRI that revealed an underlying labral tear.  Morant will undergo season-ending surgery and is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2024-25 season.

It has been determined that Ja Morant’s right shoulder has a ruptured labrum. Because of a shoulder injury, the star player for the Grizzlies will have to undergo surgery before the conclusion of the season. Just recently, the 24-year-old player returned to the team after serving a 25-game suspension for flashing a pistol on Instagram Live in May.
