Arsenal Transfer News: Atletico Madrid Wants Hector Bellerin

Arsenal transfer news: Hector Bellerin is in talks with Gunners to terminate his contract, per multiple reports.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bellerin’s agent arrived in London and met with Arsenal board today. Discussions to terminate his contract are said to be ongoing. Romano also claims Bellerin’s priority is to return to Real Betis.

The Spanish right-back spent last season at Betis and helped them to a fifth-place finish in La Liga. Bellerin had featured in 32 games for Betis last season, with 23 of those coming in the Spanish top-flight.

He also won the Copa del Rey title with Betis last season. Courtesy of their fifth-place finish last season, Betis have also qualified for this season’s Europa League.

When did Bellerin join Arsenal?

Bellerin moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2011. He made his Arsenal senior team debut in 2013, coming on as a substitute.

Bellerin has so far featured in 239 matches for Arsenal and has scored nine goals for the team.

He has won the FA Cup in 2014–15, 2016–17, 2019–20 seasons, the FA Community Shield in 2015, 2017, 2020 with Arsenal.

Bellerin has also represented the Spain national football team four times.

Arsenal transfer news: What future holds for Bellerin?

Bellerin will be hoping Arsenal agrees to terminate his contract. That would allow him to return to Real Betis on a free transfer. Bellerin enjoyed a great spell at Betis last season, and the 27-year-old will be hoping for another similar run at the Spanish side.

According to El Chiringuito [via The Sun], Real Betis are prepared to offer Bellerin either a three or four-year contract. He would also have far more importance at Betis than he would have at Arsenal, where he is said to be not in the plans of coach Mikel Arteta. He would also be able to get more game time than he would get if he stays at Arsenal.
