La Liga giants FC Barcelona are exploring the possibility of signing Spanish international Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain in the upcoming January transfer window.
Carlos Soler started his football career at the academy of Bonrepos. The midfielder trained for four seasons at the Bonrepos academy before joining the youth setup of Valencia.
Soler then graduated from the Valencia academy and was promoted to the reserve team. He played one season for Valencia B and delivered consistent performances. As a result, the midfielder finally got a chance in the senior team.
The Spaniard then quickly established himself in the Valencia squad. He helped Los Che to win the Copa del Rey trophy in 2019. Soler has also made his debut for the Spanish national team. The midfielder was a part of the Spain team that reached the finals of the Olympics. The Valencia graduate joined PSG at the start of this season.
Barcelona Interested in Carlos Soler
Now according to a report from the Spanish outlet, Fichajes, Catalan giants FC Barcelona want to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler in January.
After a dismal last season, Barcelona made quite a few signings in the summer transfer window. Players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Marcos Alonso, Franck Kessie, and Hector Bellerin joined Barcelona.
The summer signings soon adapted to their new club as Barcelona got a brilliant start to the Spanish league. The Catalan giants won twelve out of their first fourteen matches. With thirty-seven points, they are currently at the top of the league.
The transition however is not complete which is visible from their performance in the European competition. After winning their first game, Xavi’s side three out of the next four games in the UEFA Champions League. As a result, Barcelona were knocked out of the group stage.
Now Barcelona management understands their position very well. They want to make further signings in the January transfer window to strengthen their team. Thus they want to sign a seasoned campaigner like Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain.
Having joined, PSG at the start of the season, Carlos Soler has failed to establish himself as a starter. The Spaniard has started in only four games so far. He is struggling for game time and may look to get out of the club if a good offer arrives.
Hence this is a huge chance for Barcelona to reinforce their midfield. The Catalan giants earlier tried to sign him in the January transfer window. However, a move did not happen as Soler joined PSG. Barcelona then signed Franck Kessie. They loaned out Nico and released Pjanic.
Now they will lose Busquets next summer. So replacements are needed at camp Nou. Although Soler is not going to replace Busquets, he will add something different to Xavi’s midfield.
