Arsenal News: Lampard Provides an Update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal News: The Gunners have been linked with Dominic Calvert-Lewin over a potential summer transfer. Everton manager Frank Lampard has now provided an update on the same.

Mikel Arteta is in need of signing a striker in the summer. The Spaniard has been quite vocal about this and the Gunners’ management don’t have any other options given the condition of the squad.

Both Edward Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette will be out of contract in the summer. Hence the Gunners would be without a recognized number nine heading into the 2022 transfer window.

Owing to this, the club’s transfer director Edu has made a shortlist along with Mikel Arteta. Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also part of the shortlist as the Gunners look to make multiple signings to bolster their squad.

Arsenal News: Frank Lampard attended the press conference ahead of Everton’s decisive game against Brentford. The manager updated the press on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future with the club as well.

As per the Daily Mail, Frank Lampard claimed that he knows about Newcastle United and Arsenal’s interest regarding Dominic Calvert-Lewin. However, the Everton manager hoped that the striker would stay.

The Everton boss said, “Dominic is a player that would be wanted by clubs because of the level of player he is. There are not many strikers out there, they cost a lot of money. I’m not worried about him at all.”

Frank Lampard showered praises on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s skills and expertise. However, the Englishman expressed that the striker is yet to achieve full fitness. Hence this has been the reason why he has not been playing.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has made just 14 Premier League appearances this season. Injuries have halted the striker’s progress. However, Lampard is confident that the striker will play more in the last few games of the season.

The 25-year-old is linked with Arsenal even though he has hardly played for the past year. Hence it has to be seen what Calvert-Lewin would decide to do if the Gunners bid for him. Frank Lampard on his part has claimed that he would discuss the future with the player at the end of the season.

Who are the other potential targets for the Gunners?

Arsenal News: Apart from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Gunners are currently linked with at least three strikers. This shortlist includes the names of Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Benfica’s Darwin Nunez, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

With the transfer window fast approaching, Mikel Arteta is also trying to extend Edward Nketiah’s contract with the club. Everton are hovering near the relegation zone at the moment. Hence if the toffees are relegated, it would significantly improve Arsenal’s chances of signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.
