Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal have ‘offered’ Lucas Torreira to Lazio in an attempt to sell the midfielder before the end of the season.
After failing to make an impact in north London since arriving from Sampdoria, the Uruguayan is surplus to needs at Emirates. Torreira has spent the last few seasons on loan. The most recent of which ended this summer with Fiorentina.
Arsenal had hoped that the Serie A club would use their option to make the loan permanent. However, owing to a disagreement over agent fees, they have decided not to pursue a deal for the former Atletico Madrid star.
As a result, the Gunners are searching for a new suitor for Torreira, with Lazio emerging as a possible destination, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Uruguayan is one of Maurizio Sarri’s alternatives in the midfield. The former Chelsea manager is aiming to add some toughness to Lazio’s midfield.
Torreira has impressed during his time at La Viola, but a disagreement over ‘commissions’ between the player’s representatives and those in power at the club means the buy option in the loan deal will not be activated.
Torreira has no future at Arsenal. His contract set to expire next summer, they’d rather cash in now than lose him as a free agent next year.
Sarri, as well as his predecessor Simone Inzaghi, sought to sign the midfielder last summer. Lazio, on the other hand, would want to get a loan, which Mikel Arteta’s side is now opposed to.
Fiorentina’s options are still open. However, his future is in jeopardy due to his disagreement with his agent. After getting his career back on track, Torreira is open to joining them permanently.

Arsenal tried to sell Torriera in January as part of the deal for Dusan Vlahovic, hoping to use the midfielder as a makeweight.
Talks fell through after the Serbian turned out a transfer to Arsenal in favour of a move to Juventus. It is being said that the Gunners wasn’t willing to pay the entire release clause for the player.
Arsenal have been unable to identify a successor for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Now the club is left with only Eddie Nkeitah as their only known no.9. Alexandre Lacazette has already left the club for his home country. Arteta, on the other hand, claimed he did not regret the club’s mid-season approach.
“Everything we did was to attempt to achieve the objectives we had after January. We wanted to try to challenge the top four, and the method we were going to do it,” he explained.
