Barcelona Transfer News: Fabrizio Romano says that Memphis Depay and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, two attackers who have been linked with moves away from Camp Nou, will meet with Barcelona again. Juventus is interested in Depay, and Chelsea wants Aubameyang.
Barcelona has had a great summer of signing new players. Robert Lewandowski is the most well-known of the new players they’ve brought in.
But they are having a hard time right now because they can’t get any of their new players registered. Their La Liga season starts in just a couple of days against Rayo Vallecano.
So, Barcelona is trying to get rid of players who are no longer in the manager’s plans by negotiating salary cuts and deferrals with some of them and stepping up efforts to get rid of others.
After Lewandowski and Raphinha joined the team, Memphis Depay is one of the players who doesn’t have a big role under Xavi.
Barcelona Transfer News: What’s the matter?
The Dutch player has been told to find a new team less than a year after joining. The forward is already talking with Juventus about a possible move.
But Depay wants Barcelona to terminate his contract because he signed a Bosman deal with them and agreed to make less money than he would have at other clubs.
Barcelona, on the other hand, wants a transfer fee of €20 million before they will let Depay go.
So, the Dutchman’s lawyers are in talks with the Catalans to get him out of the club as a free agent. Juventus is waiting to sign him to a two-year deal.
At the same time, though, Aubameyang’s future is uncertain because Chelsea wants to sign the 33-year-old striker from Barcelona just seven months after he moved there from Arsenal.
The Gabonese striker has had a good start to his time in Catalonia. He scored 13 goals for the Blaugrana in the 2021/22 season.
But now that Lewandowski is there, he won’t be Barcelona’s first-choice striker anymore. Thomas Tuchel is desperate to sign a new centre-forward. So, Chelsea hopes to use that to get him.
What will finally happen?
Given their financial situation, the La Liga giants may not want to let go of the 33-year-old. However, a good offer and a chance to get rid of the salary could change their minds.
On Thursday, Aubameyang and his team will meet to talk about his future at Barcelona. The goal is to find out what he wants to do.
If the striker wants to leave to get more playing time, the Catalan giants will stop Depay from leaving because they only want to let one of the two strikers go.
When Depay and Aubameyang meet with Barcelona officials later today, they should be able to get a better idea of what will happen with their futures.
