Premier League table toppers, Chelsea, are set to beat their arch-rivals, Arsenal, in their pursuit of Wolfsburg’s left-back, Ricardo Rodriguez.
According to the British newspaper, The Sun, English giants have made initial contacts with the Swiss International’s agent and will be negotiating a £21m move for the full-back to the Stamford Bridge soon.
Chelsea’s arch nemesis, Arsenal, have also been monitoring the development of 24 years old from past two months are highly interested in landing the defender at the Emirates.
But, Gunners are now lagging behind the Blues in the race to sign the defender as Conte has given the green light to Chelsea hierarchy to make a move for the Swiss.
Antonio Conte is willing to land the full-back in January to give a major boost to Chelsea’s title hopes, who are currently leading the league with 5 points and a game in hand.
The Swiss International has been highly impressive in his time at the German club since his move in 2012 and on his national duties for Switzerland.
The 24 years old has been a major part of Wolfsburg’s good runs in Bundesliga and in Europe since past few seasons.
Conte’s switch to 3-4-3 has been instrumental in Blues’ season revival, and both their wing-backs Victor Moses and summer signing, Marco Alonso, have been very significant in Conte’s set up at Chelsea. But the Italian maestro lacks options in wingback position and Conte sees Rodriguez as one of the best in business.

Although, Rodriguez recently hinted at a probable move to the North London club who is ready to join his national compatriot, Granit Pakeha.
