Chelsea News: Christian Pulisic Talks About His Displeasure of Tuchel’s Tactics

Chelsea News: Christian Pulisic has revealed his displeasure about Tuchel’s Tactics during Chelsea‘s 2020-21 Champions League fixture against Real Madrid.

Pulisic played under the German manager in two different clubs and the American forward’s debut happened under Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund.

The USMNT footballer has claimed that he was misled by Tuchel, and was left “dumbfounded and very disappointed” by the German manager’s decision.

Chelsea’s new owners sacked their Champions League-winning manager a few weeks ago, and the club explained that the sacking did not happen based on his recent poor performances.

Pulisic got his debut in professional football under Thomas Tuchel when they were at BVB. He made his debut in 2015 against Union Berlin in a friendly game.

Thomas Tuchel once praised the forward as he said: “It shows our huge appreciation that we see him as a full-time player on our team”.

While playing under Tuchel, Pulisic became one of the brightest young forwards in Europe.

The forward made 127 appearances for the Geman giants and registered 19 goals and 26 assists. He won the German Cup with Dortmund in the 2016-17 season.

The American forward moved to Chelsea for an estimated £58 million transfer fee in 2019. He first worked under Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard as a manager.

After Tuchel arrived at Chelsea, every thought that Pulisic would become a massive player for the club. But things did not go smoothly for both manager and the player.

The USMNT forward has revealed his experience with his former manager in the match against Los Blancos in his new book ‘Christian Pulisic: My Journey So Far’. Pulisic scored in Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final and also admitted his decision of defying Tuchel’s instructions in the buildup.

Despite getting assured by his manager, the player was left on the bench in the second leg. But he provided an assist after coming from the bench.

In his Pulisic told: What happened before that game was hugely disappointing for me.”

The forward did not play the Fulham game in the Premier League fixture to start against Madrid. But what happened was the complete opposite. The manager chose Havertz over him. He wrote his reaction to his manager’s decision: “I honestly was dumbfounded and very disappointed”.

Recent reports were suggesting the relationship between the player and his manager. Pulisic was looking for a way out in the summer window, and several were keen to bring him in. Manchester United was one of those. But the sack of Tuchel may change his decision over his future at the club.

The 24-year-old is currently out on international duty to play friendlies against Japan and Saudi Arabia. He will return to the Blues to face Crystal Palace on 1st October.
