AB de Villiers best T20 player: AB de Villiers has named a cricketer as “the greatest T20 player of all time”, but his answer may surprise many fans. The South African hasn’t taken his best friend Virat Kohli’s name.

T20 cricket is becoming the format of choice for many players around the world, especially with the advent of franchise-based tournaments. Since its inception, the format has boasted many records, milestones, and pathbreakers.

Many fans and critics have also debated him as the greatest T20 cricketer of all time, with many picking Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Jos Buttler, David Warner, Kieron Pollard, and more. Kohli is also T20I top run scorer with 4008 runs in 115 matches packed with a century and 37 half-centuries.

Following him, we could find another teammate of him, Rohit Sharma. He scored 3,853 runs, including 50 in 4 tons and 29 in 148 games. At the bowling front, New Zealand’s Tim Southey has scored 13 wickets in his 107 matches and is the best wicket-taker in holes of four and five wickets.

AB de Villiers selects Rashid Khan

Shakib al-Hasan, on the other hand, has the second most wickets in T20I history with 128 wickets in 109 matches.

AB de Villiers is another player who was considered a T20 specialist during his career. He is also considered one of the greatest hitters of all time. So when asked about his T20 best cricketer of all time, the South African surprised everyone with his answer, which did not include his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate and best friend Virat Kohli.

“My T20 player of all time is none other than Rashid Khan. He delivers results with bat and ball. A winner in both divisions, he is a living wire on the field and a lion have a heart he always wants to win. He is very competitive, with him one of the best T20 players. He’s not one of the best,” he told.

The Afghan all-rounder is one of the main draws in franchise-based tournaments and a regular in T20 cricket. He is also the third-highest wicket-taker in his T20Is. In 77 matches, he has taken 126 wickets, 4 wicket hauls four times, and 5 wicket hauls twice.

The glory of Rashid Khan’s T20I career

Rashid Khan was Afghanistan’s first global superstar and was key to his early success in international cricket. His highly effective leg spin has made him one of the best T20 bowlers of all time and one of the top wishes of his name in teams in leagues around the world.

While not a great spinner of the ball, he maintains a stump-to-stump line. He uses speed in the air to apply pressure to the ball like bowling idol Shahid Afridi. His greatest weapon is his precision googly, and he has many variations. With the bat in hand, he was able to push the limit late in the inning, turning a mediocre total into a win for his team. Less than two years later, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in his IPL for nearly $600,000. After a glorious first season of 17 wickets, he signed a franchise deal with Guyana’s Amazon Warriors and Adelaide Strikers (won BBL title first time).

In 2018, he reached new heights in Afghanistan, where he continued his T20I winning streak of 11 games with a 5-3 victory against Ireland in T20I. He was officially honored as his 2017 ICC Associate Cricketer of the Year. The following year he became the youngest cricketer in the ODI bowling rankings. He is also the youngest man to captain an international team and the fastest ODI 100 wickets.

In his five seasons with the Sunrisers, he was a totemic presence. He took 93 wickets with his 6.33 save percentage. In 2022 Gujarat took his 19 wickets when he joined the Gujarat Titans and led the team to the title.
