In the latest development, the AGM of BCCI is scheduled to be held in Goa. According to Cricbuzz, the upcoming meeting is slated to be held on September 25.
For the unversed, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) are usually held by corporations. The shareholders gather in order to talk about and make important decisions on several matters concerning the company’s governance.
Besides that, they also discuss financial performance. Shareholders or members of the company shouldn’t skip the meeting as it is a mandatory yearly gathering.
Cricket organizations such as international, national, or local level have governing bodies. They are the ones who are accountable for supervising the sport’s administration.
The AGM agenda includes financial reports and the election of office bearers and executives. Besides that, there are important discussions about cricket development programs.
On the other hand, it could also be rule changes in the sport or other matters concerning the organization’s functioning.
BCCI’s Annual General Meeting to be held on September 25
Meanwhile, the ultimate decision at the AGM will be to recruit 3 new members to the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Notice is hereby given that the 92nd Annual General Meeting (hereinafter referred to as AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (“BCCI”) will be held at W Hotel – Goa on 25th September 2023, to transact the business as per the attached agenda. The time of the AGM will be communicated at a later date,” Shah was quoted by Cricbuzz.
As per reports, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah already communicated all the information about the upcoming meeting to all the stakeholders or members.
On the other hand, he also provided an 18-point agenda for the AGM. Now, let’s get into some of the key points. The items – B and C will be the key points.
B. Election and induction of 2 representatives of the General Body into the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League
C. Appointment of 1 representative of the Indian Cricketers’ Association into the Governing Council of the Indian Premier League.
As of now, Arun Dhumal and Avishek Dalmiya are the 2 representatives from the General Body. On the other hand, Pragyan Ojha is the sole representative of the Indian Cricketers’ Association. In the upcoming meeting, it will be decided whether the former cricketer will continue or if another member will be inducted into the role.
