Following a rain-induced cancellation of the warm-up match against the reigning champions England in Guwahati last Saturday, the Team is now preparing for India’s warm-up match ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. This time, they will face the Netherlands at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Netherlands earned their fifth World Cup spot by securing a second-place finish behind Sri Lanka in the Qualifiers event. However, it’s worth noting that India may be without the presence of their former captain, Virat Kohli, for this match.
As per a Cricbuzz report, Team India embarked on a four-hour flight from Guwahati to Thiruvananthapuram on a particular aircraft on Sunday evening. Notably, Virat Kohli was conspicuously absent from this journey. The experienced number three batsman had sought permission from the team management to take a leave due to a personal emergency. Consequently, he departed for Mumbai from Guwahati.
However, according to the report, Virat Kohli is expected to join the Indian team in Thiruvananthapuram later in the day on Monday. The Team is now preparing for India’s warm-up match ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

India’s warm-up match before the World Cup:
India is anticipating some cricket action during their final warm-up game on Tuesday, but the weather conditions in Thiruvananthapuram seem to have different plans. According to Accuweather, the Tuesday forecast predicts a “Cloudy with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm” situation.
The likelihood of precipitation stands at a high 96 percent, with a 46 percent chance of a thunderstorm. It’s worth noting that three warm-up matches have already been affected by rain, with two of them taking place in Thiruvananthapuram. The South Africa-Afghanistan match was completely rained out, while the Australia-Netherlands match was reduced to a 23-over contest before ultimately being canceled.
It should come as no surprise that India’s second warm-up match is expected to follow a similar course. Captain Rohit Sharma is likely to remain calm, as he has described these matches as mere “procedures” for Team India, who have been quite active in the lead-up to the World Cup. Following a rain-induced cancellation, the Team is now preparing for India’s warm-up match ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Indian Cricket Team recently triumphed in the Asia Cup two weeks ago and secured a victory against Australia in a three-match series at home last week. India is set to kick off their World Cup campaign on October 8th in Chennai against Australia.
