The game was to be played in Ahmedabad but the rain interrupted the party of the finals. Now, the final of IPL 2023 will be played on Reserve Day.
After yesterday’s match, everyone is curious about knowing what a reserve day in IPL is meant. Reserve day in IPL or any other format of cricket is used when a knockout game doesn’t happen on the specified date. The game can be interrupted due to weather cause or any other unavoidable cause.
In that case, the knockout match can be played on the Reserve day in IPL. It is happened for the very first time in the history of IPL that the final will be played on the Reserve day.
Defending pending Champions Gujarat Titans (GT) were all set to play their second IPL final. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) four times IPL winners was ready to play their 10th final in the history of IPL. Everyone was excited but there was a heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad that even the toss couldn’t take place.
Reserve Day in IPL 2023, GT vs CSK:
Due to the heavy rainfall on Sunday in Ahmedabad, the IPL 2023 finals got delayed and now will be played on the Reserve day. The rules and regulations for reserve day will be the same as they were for the scheduled date. The finals will be played on Monday, May 29, in Ahmedabad. The match will start at 7:30 pm.
When the rain started both the teams thought that it is just a passing shower. Both teams have faced each other twice in the tournament. The opening match of IPL 2023 was between these two teams which is also a record in itself.

In the inaugural match of the season Gujarat Titans defeat the Chennai Super Kings. Both the teams faced each other in the second match which was Qualifier 1 in which Chennai defeated Gujarat.

In case the reverse day is washed out as well then both the teams will play a super over if the conditions allowed. If the super over also couldn’t be completed or started then the team with the most number of points will win the IPL title. As, per the points table of IPL 2023, GT is at the top of the points table.
