Real Madrid talisman Eden Hazard is keen to return from injury and get some minutes on the field before their crucial round of 16 ties against Manchester City in the Champions League. The former Chelsea forward fractured his ankle against PSG in November. He has been out of action since then.
Zinedine Zidane is undoubtedly looking forward to having the Belgian back in the squad. But the Real Madrid boss has managed the squad well without the presence of Hazard. According to Express.co.uk, the Belgian could even be back on the field before the Madrid derby on 1st February. But the club, as well as the player himself, isn’t willing to take any risks.
Hazard had just started finding his rhythm at the Spanish capital before his injury. Although he had scored just once in 13 games, his presence on the field was a significant one for the Los Blancos. He would certainly be fit for Real’s tie against Pep Guardiola’s men.
“When you meet Italian coaches, you are less happy” – Hazard
Hazard was a key figure for Sarri’s Chelsea side that won the Europa League last season. Talking about his time at the Stamford Bridge, Hazard said –
“Italian coaches are rigid and repetitive. Here [Santiago Bernebau] in training, we are always using the ball, there are movement and mini-matches. You find pleasure in victory.”
Aiming a few digs at his former coaches Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri, Hazard explained –
“When you meet Italian coaches like I did, you are less happy. I spent three years with them so to rediscover this pleasure again makes me happy.”
Zidane had openly expressed his admiration for Eden Hazard even before his transfer. It was quite certain that the Belgian would end up playing for Real Madrid at some point in his career. In a shocking revelation, Hazard described –
“Zidane called me during the 2016 European Championship in France and asked me to come to the Bernebeu. When he calls, it’s serious!”
Real Madrid is currently in a good run of form after defeating Sevilla at home. Hazard’s return would certainly boost their desire to win multiple trophies this season. Next up, they will face Unionistas on Wednesday in the Copa Del Rey round of 32 ties.
