FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the club’s other directors would be liable for a €20m guarantee following the failure of an investor to produce the funds to complete a financial deal.
Barcelona’s financial struggles are well-documented, and the report in The Telegraph reveals the Catalan outfit faces further troubles on that front.
According to The Telegraph, Barcelona announced in August that Libero Football Finance had agreed to pay €40m for a 9.8 percent stake in Barca Vision. However, Libero Football Finance have not paid that amount, according to the English outlet.
SPORT reports that Barcelona have not cut their relationship with Libero Football Finance, but they also do not rule out the possibility that the €40m will come from another investor.

According to SPORT, Barcelona are not happy with Libero Football Finance but they are also in no hurry since they have already registered the players. The Spanish outlet reports that Barcelona will now look to strike a more favourable deal for them with Libero Football Finance.
If such a deal does not come to fruition, SPORT reports that Barcelona will look for another investor in the place of Libero Football Finance.

Meanwhile, the said €40m has to arrive before the end of the year. Half of that amount will free Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the board of directors of the €20m guarantee they are liable for if the funds are not provided.
Despite their financial limitations, Barcelona made a number of signings in the summer transfer window of 2023. The club landed Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez on free transfers in the summer. They also acquired the services of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix on season-long loan deals. Barcelona also signed Oriol Romeu for €3.40m in the summer transfer window.
The Catalan outfit have had a good start to the 23/24 season. After a goalless draw with Getafe in their La Liga opener, Barcelona have won all three fixtures they have played since. They sit third in the La Liga points table with 10 points from four matches. They are two points behind table-toppers and arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Barcelona will resume their campaign after the September international break with a La Liga match against Real Betis.
