Bayern Munich are considering taking advantage of Mason Mount’s contract situation at Chelsea by making a move for the England international at the end of the season, according to a report in The Times.
Mason Mount and Chelsea have not yet reached an agreement over a new contract that would extend the English attacker’s stay at the Stamford Bridge outfit well beyond its current expiry. Mount’s current contract with Chelsea runs out in 2024, which means he will enter the final year of his deal with the Blues next season.
Mason Mount has been linked with a move away from Chelsea as a result, with Liverpool reportedly interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old. Chelsea might look to part ways with Mount if they fail to reach an agreement over a contract extension.
The Times reports that Chelsea will want at least £50m for Mason Mount in the event of a sale. They also report that Bayern Munich are interested in signing the attacker.

Thomas Tuchel an admirer of Mason Mount
Bayern Munich recently sacked Julian Nagelsmann and appointed Thomas Tuchel as their manager. Tuchel previously was the manager of Chelsea before the Stamford Bridge outfit sacked him earlier this season.
Thomas Tuchel became the Chelsea manager in January 2021 and stayed in that position until September 2022. Mason Mount was one of Chelsea’s key players during Tuchel’s stint as the Chelsea manager. Tuchel is also an admirer of Mount, who is a Chelsea academy graduate.

Mason Mount, meanwhile, has appeared in 32 games across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season. He has racked up three goals and six assists in those matches. However, he has not quite lived up to the standards he had set in the previous season.
It remains to be seen what decision he takes about his future. If he decides to leave, he will not be short of suitors. At the moment, he will be aiming to help Chelsea to the best possible finish they could have this season. Chelsea remains in contention for the Champions League title. They will take on Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Chelsea, meanwhile, sits 10th in the Premier League points table. They will be aiming to pick up as many points as possible and improve their position in the table.
