Carlo Ancelotti Backs Frank Lampard to Do Fantastic Job at Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti rules out return to Chelsea

Carlo Ancelotti said that the fact that he is a more experienced manager than Frank Lampard will not change what happens in the Real Madrid vs Chelsea Champions League quarter-final tie.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid and Frank Lampard’s Chelsea will square off in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final in their upcoming match. Real Madrid are the defending Champions League winner and they defeated Chelsea en route to their title win last season.

Chelsea have had an underwhelming campaign so far this season. They have also sacked two managers this season and recently appointed Frank Lampard as interim manager for the remainder of the season.

Frank Lampard is a Chelsea legend but is relatively inexperienced as a manager when compared to Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti. But Ancelotti believes Lampard’s relative inexperience as a manager will not change what happens in the Real Madrid vs Chelsea tie.

Speaking ahead of the Real Madrid vs Chelsea Champions League quarter-final first leg, Carlo Ancelotti said: “I’m 63 and he’s 44, so I have 20 more years experience than him, but that won’t change what happens in the game.

Lampard was a really great player, I was lucky to coach him … he was a fantastic, extraordinary professional.

He knows what can happen in these games and how to prepare a team for these games. Experience doesn’t mean much. He knows a lot of the players and he’ll do well for sure.

Carlo Ancelotti has previously managed Chelsea. The Italian tactician was the Chelsea manager between 2009 and 2011. Chelsea currently languishes at 11th in the Premier League table, and Ancelotti revealed he is sad about the Blues’ struggles.

Carlo Ancelotti also ruled out a return to Chelsea and backed Frank Lampard to do a fantastic job at the Stamford Bridge outfit.

I’m sad, yes,” Carlo Ancelotti said when asked about the situation that Chelsea find themselves in. “I have fantastic memories of this club, the people who are still working there, I’m a Chelsea supporter of course.

I had two good years there. [Would I] go back? No, I think and I hope Lampard is able to do a fantastic job with them.

Meanwhile, the first leg match between Real Madrid and Chelsea will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on April 13.
