Diogo Dalot has revealed that Manchester United have been practicing penalties since the start of the pre-season after the Red Devils defeated Brighton & Hove Albion on penalties to book their place in the FA Cup final.
Manchester United and Brighton squared off in the FA Cup semi-final, and it was the Red Devils who emerged triumphant. The game headed into a penalty shootout after it remained locked in a draw at the end of normal and extra time.
Manchester United took seven penalties in the shootout and they converted each of those. Brighton, meanwhile, converted six penalties but missed their seventh. Victor Lindelof stepped up to take Manchester United’s seventh penalty and converted it to send the Red Devils into the final of the FA Cup.
Manchester United will face neighbours Manchester City in the final of the FA Cup. Manchester City are chasing a historic treble this season, with the club in contention for three different trophies. They remain in contention for Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup titles this season. Manchester United, who have already won the EFL Cup this season, will be aiming to win another cup competition while also preventing Manchester City from winning the treble.

Man Utd players showed character & quality under pressure in penalty shootout win over Brighton, says Diogo Dalot.
Speaking after Manchester United edged out Brighton & Hove Albion in the penalty shootout, Diogo Dalot revealed they have been practicing penalties since the start of the preseason.
“Since the start of pre-season, we have been trying to train penalties, everyone. I think this was a feeling that the time would come one day and we had to be ready. And I think everybody showed quality, some character under pressure,” Diogo Dalot told MUTV.
“Because it is difficult. Because behind were the Brighton fans screaming at you, you had to focus. So we showed personality and I am really happy with everyone that we scored the penalties and we are in the final.”
Diogo Dalot added: “We showed character and tactically we were very good. We knew we had to be patient with the ball. They were trying to find spaces. Brighton are a fantastic team, they play really good football. We had to be aggressive in the duels.
“And today, we showed that we want it. We showed desire. And that responsibility has to be every game. We have to be more consistent if we want to win every trophy.”
Meanwhile, the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City will kick off at 7:30 pm Indian Standard Time on June 3.
