Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has insisted that they do not have to look at Liverpool in the battle for a top-four finish in Premier League after Red Devils’ defeat to West Ham United blew the race wide open.
West Ham hosted Manchester United at London Stadium in their most recent Premier League fixture and inflicted a 1-0 defeat on the Red Devils. Said Benrahma’s goal for West Ham on 27 minutes separated the two sides as Manchester United suffered a second consecutive defeat in four days.
Manchester United remain fourth in the Premier League table despite the defeat. They have 63 points from 34 matches in the English top-flight so far this season. But the Red Devils are only one point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool, who have 62 points from 35 matches.
Manchester United have four more games remaining in Premier League – against Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Fulham – and Erik ten Hag stressed that their destiny when it comes to a top-four finish remains in their own hands.

Erik Ten Hag: Manchester United doesn’t have to look at others in the top-four race
“If we bring our performance and we bring our standards we will win games. We don’t have to look to others, we have to look to ourselves, and we have to find a way to get back to our levels,” Erik ten Hag said [via 90min] after the defeat to West Ham.
“Nothing changes,” Erik ten Hag added. “We could have made it easier if we had won, but we need three wins in four games. Everything is in our hands. We have to believe.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be aiming to end their 22/23 campaign on a high note. The Red Devils have already won the EFL Cup title this season. They are also in the final of FA Cup and aiming for a top-four finish in Premier League.
Manchester United will square off with Manchester City in the final of FA Cup, which will take place in June after the end of the Premier League campaign.
Meanwhile, it was a howler from David de Gea that cost Manchester United against West Ham. The Spaniard somehow failed to save Said Benrahma’s rather feeble shot.
Despite the howler against West Ham, Erik ten Hag defended David de Gea after the game and insisted they want him to stay at Manchester United.
