Everton Fan Group Demands Change and Answers From Farhad Moshiri

Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright.

An Everton fans’ group that is pushing for changes at Goodison Park have written an open letter to owner Farhad Moshiri urging him to address their concerns. The fan group ‘The 27 Years Campaign’ was formed last season and was named after the number of trophies the ‘Toffees’ won in their entirety.

Since the Iranian billionaire wrote an open letter to fans in July, the group believes that Moshiri must respond to a series of questions given the absence of communication with the masses of the fan community.

Additionally, the 27 Years Campaign has inquired about Kenwright’s and Denise Barrett-Baxendale’s ability to “justify their performance” in their respective positions. Kenwright has been chairman of Everton since 2004.

The 27 Campaign statement read: “Farhad Moshiri’s financial commitment to Everton is significant and his funding of our new stadium is very welcome. But his silence, while we struggle on and off the pitch, is very concerning.

Everton team owners Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright.

The team currently managed by Premier League Legend Frank Lampard is in the 17th position. Just one point clear of being in the relegation zone. The team is in desperate need of total repair and reinforcements in January. They have lost five of their last seven games and are under a great deal of pressure.

The open letter starts by saying that the team management’s request to judge them at the end of the summer window has been respected. The fans have continuously supported the manager and the team at home and away. But the lack of communication from the Team owner has been a cause of scrutiny.

The open letter addressed to Farhad Moshiri has posed the following questions-

Finance

The club does not disclose any financial information beyond what is required by law. It is reasonable for shareholders and fans to anticipate regular updates on our finances in light of the construction of a new stadium, extensive, ongoing losses, and issues with profitability and sustainability. Our ability to compete is directly related to our finances.

Ownership

The club’s messages have been muddled since the summer. Is the club on the market? Are you looking for new investors to help us pay for our working capital needs? Other Chief Association clubs looking for new speculation or proprietors have delegated venture banks to deal with their prerequisites. They have communicated in a clear manner. What are you doing, what is your intention, and when will you clearly communicate it?

Change

Everton is in dire need of changes considering their position in the table. Considering that as the team owner and major shareholder Farhad Moshiri is the only one able to bring about these changes.

Leadership

In the close to a long time since you obtained your underlying shareholding you have continued holding the on-going Director and CEO. Nothing about Everton’s governance, business, financial, or even football performance suggests that they should be kept employed. Our competitive position deteriorates annually in all respects as a result of significant losses and resource wasting. How can their performance be justified?
