Former Real Madrid midfielder Isco has been linked with a move to Serie A club AS Roma. The Spain international is a free agent as his contract was terminated by Sevilla last month. He was close to joining Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin but the move collapsed over a dispute over wages.
Isco spent nine years at Real Madrid between 2013 and 2022. He played 353 games (in all competitions) for the Blancos, registering 53 goals and 57 assists.
The Valencia youth academy graduate helped Real Madrid win three La Liga titles and five UEFA Champions League trophies among other honours. Isco was part of the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season 2016-17.

Jose Mourinho could look to use the free agent market to replace him at the club. Isco is an excellent option to replace the Italy international at the Stadio Olimpico given his talent and experience at the highest level.
The former Real Madrid star was earning €1 million per season at Sevilla, with a series of add-ons taking that sum to £5 million. Isco is likely to demand the same deal from his new club. It would be intriguing to see if Jose Mourinho agrees to pay that sum to bring him to Rome.
Carlo Ancelotti opens up on unusual defeat
Real Madrid registered a shock 1-0 defeat against Mallorca on Sunday. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that the team is hurt by the upset.
While speaking to the media, he said: “It’s a defeat that really hurts in that sense, but it was the kind of match we expected. We were ready for a tough match, with a lot of fouls and stoppages.”
“Small margins decided the outcome of the match. The early goal and the missed penalty really affected us.”
