Frank Lampard has said that Mason Mount is a huge player for Chelsea amid speculation linking the England international with a move away from the Stamford Bridge outfit in the summer.
Chelsea have appointed Frank Lampard as their interim manager until the end of the current campaign after sacking Graham Potter. Lampard, who is a Chelsea legend, previously managed the West London outfit between July 2019 and January 2021.
Mason Mount was a firm favourite of Frank Lampard during the latter’s first stint as Chelsea manager. Mount was one of Chelsea’s most used players during Lampard’s spell at the helm in his first stint.
Mason Mount established himself as a key player for Chelsea during that period and was also a crucial figure during Thomas Tuchel’s stint at the club. However, Mount has fallen out of favour at Chelsea in recent times and his contract situation has also seen him being linked with a move away from the Blues.

Frank Lampard: Mason Mount has always been a fantastic player for me
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Frank Lampard hailed Mason Mount as a fantastic player and suggested he still has a huge role to play at Chelsea this season.
Frank Lampard said: “Mason has always been a fantastic player for me, from my days at Derby to when I came back to Chelsea.
“It’s with absolute pleasure that I’ve watched him, amongst others that I coached in that period…Reece James, Tammy Abraham, [Fikayo] Tomori, and others, to go on and be huge players here or elsewhere.
“With Mason I know he’s had a few slight injury problems, that’s important for me to speak to him about. But I know what I get from Mason so I just want to see him perform on the pitch.
“Of course, we have a good relationship so we’ll talk a lot, I think he’s a huge player for Chelsea and has been in his time here, and look forward to talking to him more.”
Mason Mount has appeared in 32 games across all competitions for Chelsea so far this season, with 23 of those coming in the Premier League. However, he was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s last two matches in the Premier League – a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa and a goalless draw with Liverpool.
