Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Reds will look to sign a new midfielder in the summer. The German manager has struggled with his midfield options this term.
Almost all of the Reds’ senior midfielders have had bad luck injuries this season. According to reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside outfit are expected to sign 2-3 new midfielders during the off-season.
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool midfield plans
While speaking to the media recently, Jurgen Klopp revealed that Liverpool are tracking several midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window. He said: “There’s maybe 12 midfielders we are interested in on the market… so that’s good. We will sign some, I hope.”
Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham linked heavily with a move to Anfield in recent months. However, reports have emerged this week that the Reds have dropped their interest in the German international due to the high fee he would command.

Klopp has also opened up on Bellingham. The German manager said: “Prices change over time. We have to make decisions for the club. The club cannot be angry if we don’t get someone. We have to sort it out. It’s not fun watching other teams strengthen – but it’s life. We work with it”
Chelsea’s Mason Mount, West Ham United’s Declan Rice, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes have also been linked with a move to the Reds recently. A busy transfer window is expected at Anfield next summer.
Roberto Firmino linked with AS Roma
According to Fichajes, AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho has listed Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino as among his top targets to bolster his attacking unit next summer. The Brazil international is in the final months of his current contract at Anfield.
He has already revealed his decision to leave the club at the end of the current season. The 31-year-old attacker has played a key role for the Reds since joining from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the summer window of 2015.
Roberto Firmino has played 359 games for Liverpool thus far, registering 109 goals and 79 assists. He won the PFA Premier League Player of the Month award in January 2016 and was part of the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season

Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan have also shown interest in signing the Brazil international in recent months. It will take a lot of persuasion from Jose Mourinho to bring him to Rome next summer.
