Jurgen Klopp Reacts to Cody Gakpo’s Performance on His Liverpool Debut

"We have to get him in better positions" - Jurgen Klopp on Cody Gakpo

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that Cody Gakpo ‘showed good signs’ on his debut match for the Merseyside outfit but also admitted that they have to get the Netherlands international in better positions.

Liverpool signed Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven in the January transfer window as the Reds bolstered their attacking department. The Merseyside outfit handed Cody Gakpo his debut for Liverpool when they took on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round.

Cody Gakpo made it to the Liverpool starting XI against Wolves and featured for Jurgen Klopp’s men until he was withdrawn in the 84th minute.

Meanwhile, the match between Liverpool and Wolves ended in a 2-2 draw, which means the Reds will have to face the same opposition in a replay.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp provided an assessment of Cody Gakpo’s performance on his debut for the Premier League outfit.

Jurgen Klopp said that Cody Gakpo fitted into the game well and that the Netherlands international showed good signs. However, the Liverpool manager also conceded that they have to get Cody Gakpo in better positions.

He fitted into the game. It was not easy for a first step,” Jurgen Klopp said. “We cannot expect it to be perfect, but he showed good signs. We have to get him in better positions but that will come no doubt.
