Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Bernardo Silva after the Portuguese attacker delivered an impressive performance in their 3-0 defeat of Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich locked horns at Etihad Stadium in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, and it was the English behemoths who emerged triumphant.
An absolute stunner from Rodri after receiving a pass from Bernardo Silva sent Manchester City ahead in the 27th minute of the game. Silva then doubled City’s lead in the 70th minute with a thumping header from an excellent cross from Erling Haaland. Haaland then made it 3-0 for Manchester City in the 76th minute, finding the net from close range.
With the victory at Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have all but sealed this Champions League quarter-final tie. Bayern Munich have a herculean task at hand as Manchester City will come into the second leg with a three-goal advantage.

Speaking after Manchester City defeated Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Bernardo Silva.
The Portuguese international was impressive throughout the game for Manchester City and registered a goal and an assist. He was also immensely impressive defensively for City.
Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola hailed Bernardo Silva as one of the best players he has ever trained. Guardiola said [via Sky Sports]: “He is a player who you say is going to play in that position and you do not have to say anything else.
“I have been lucky to coach some very good players for Barca and Bayern. He is one of the best players I ever trained in my life, ever. He is something special as a football player.
“Bernardo is a football player, he can play everywhere because he understands the game perfectly and every action with and without the ball.
“When Davies starts to go you cannot stop, Bernardo has the ability to read the positions, give us an extra pass. He is so important in these types of games, he can play holding midfielder. He is so, so important player and lately, he is scoring goals, which he lacked a little bit. Now, he is being decisive.”
Meanwhile, the second leg match between Manchester City and Bayern Munich will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on April 20.
