Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that they are not out for revenge against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.
Real Madrid will welcome Manchester City to Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final in their upcoming game. The first leg match between Manchester City and Real Madrid will kick off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on May 10.
Real Madrid and Manchester City clashed in the Champions League semi-final last season, and the two are now set to lock horns at the same stage once again. Real Madrid knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League in the semi-final last season after securing a 6-5 aggregate win over the English side.
Manchester City have the opportunity to take revenge on Real Madrid when the two sides square off in the Champions League semi-final. But Pep Guardiola has stressed that Manchester City are not out for revenge against the Spanish behemoths.

Pep Guardiola: We are not here for revenge against Real Madrid
“We are not here for revenge. What happened, happened in the past. The lesson we can learn is to learn a little bit about what happened, get a good result, and perform well tomorrow to give us the opportunity to reach the final when we play in Manchester. This is completely different to last season,” Pep Guardiola told reporters [via GOAL].
“It didn’t happen last season because we played Real Madrid and they know what to do. But the more we play against them the more we learn. One year later we are here again. After what happened last season, it’s a good point for us.”
Manchester City have been on an impressive run and comes into the upcoming game against Real Madrid on the back of a 2-1 win over Leeds United in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola and co. are chasing a historic treble this season as they remain in contention for Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup titles.
In Premier League, Manchester City leads the race for the title while in the FA Cup final, they will square off with Manchester United for the title.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, heads into the first leg match against Manchester City on the back of their Copa del Rey title win.
Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 2-1 in the final of Copa del Rey in their most recent fixture to lift the title.
