Karim Benzema’s contract offer from a Saudi club could be around €200 million. It is fair to say that the Frenchman has established himself as a Real Madrid legend. Even at 36, he is still the talisman for Real Madrid and Los Blancos are heavily reliant upon him.
In the 2022/23 season, he wasn’t at his best as fitness issues limited his playing time. On top of it, Real Madrid are yet to offer Benzema a contract, as his current contract with Los Blancos expires in a month’s time.
Although it has been reported that a verbal agreement is in place for Benzema’s contract, there is no official confirmation. Questions have been raised regarding the Frenchman’s commitment. He was recently omitted from the squad for the La Liga game against Getafe.
Against Manchester City, he failed to leave his mark. While Los Blancos were thrashed 4-0 away from home at the Etihad. Thus with these issues, Benezema’s contract extension is in doubt.
Benzema’s contract and problems for Real Madrid
According to Felix Diaz, Los Blancos believe that the Frenchman is on his way to Saudi Arabia. Benzema’s offer with the Saudi will is said to be around €200 million. Not only this the said offer comes with tax exemptions and other benefits.
The Frenchman has been a loyal servant to the club and the Saudi offer might be too tempting for him. Thus due to these reasons, Los Blancos believe that he is on his way to Saudi Arabia next summer.
However, his absence will cause big issues for Real Madrid. This is because the club hasn’t been able to secure a replacement for the player. They were close to signing Kylian Mbappe but the Paris Saint Germain forward decided to extend his contract with PSG.
While Erling Haaland is unlikely to leave Manchester City anytime soon. Thus with no replacement Benzema’s contract represents a big problem for Real Madrid.
Karim Benzema this season
The 2021/22 season was the season in which the Frenchman was in the form of his life. However, due to injuries, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same form. Despite this, he has managed to score 30 goals in all competitions.
Thus the weekend’s game at Athletico Bilbao might be his last game for the game. Benzema’s contract expires at the end of the season. Thus for the new season, he will a free agent if Real Madrid doesn’t extend Benzema’s contract.
Benzema’s offer with the Saudi along with other benefits might convince him to leave the club. Also, sportsmen don’t have a very long career. Thus at the end of his career, the Frenchman has a great chance to make a fortune.
However regardless of what happens in the summer with Benzema’s contract, he will remain a club legend. He has won four La Ligas, five Champions Leagues, three Copa Del Rey, etc. He is also the second-highest scorer in the club’s history as well.
