Cristiano Ronaldo is among the list of high-profile players to have played for Real Madrid. The Portuguese superstar was a constant fixture in the Real Madrid lineups for nine years between 2009 and 2018.

Cristiano Ronaldo

During his nine-year stay at Real Madrid between 2009 and 2018, the Portuguese superstar was impressive for the Spanish behemoths and was their main source of goals. Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in a total of 438 games for Real Madrid and racked up an impressive tally of 450 goals.

That means Cristiano Ronaldo scored more goals than the number of games he played for Real Madrid. 311 of those goals came in La Liga. The Portuguese attacker won a number of titles during his time at Real Madrid, including the Champions League four times. In the process, he also became the first player in the Champions League era to win the coveted title five times.

Karim Benzema

The French attacker also joined Real Madrid the same year Cristiano Ronaldo signed for them. Karim Benzema spent 14 seasons with Real Madrid. He became their key goal-getter once Ronaldo left Real Madrid in the summer of 2018.

The now 35-year-old made a total of 648 appearances for Real Madrid and amassed 354 goals in those matches. He left Real Madrid earlier this year as he signed for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

Raul Gonzalez

Raul Gonzalez began his professional football career at Real Madrid in 1994. During his stay at the La Liga side, Raul featured in 741 matches for the senior team and registered an impressive tally of 323 goals.

Raul is currently the manager of the Real Madrid B team. He has been occupying that role since 2019.

Alfredo Di Stefano

Alfredo Di Stefano plied his trade for Real Madrid between 1953 and 1964. Di Stefano, who is regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, spent 11 seasons with Real Madrid. During his stint with Los Blancos, Di Stefano appeared in 396 games and scored 308 goals.

Santillana

Carlos Alonso González, known as Santillana, played for Real Madrid between 1971 and 1988. During that period, he appeared in 645 games for Real Madrid and racked up 290 goals.

Ferenc Puskas

Another legend of the game, Ferenc Puskas is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. The Hungarian forward joined Real Madrid in 1958. He spent eight seasons with Real Madrid before retiring in 1966.

During his time at Real Madrid, he featured in 262 games and racked up 242 games. Among Real Madrid’s top 10 goalscorers, Ferenc Puskas has the second-best goal-per-game ratio. While Cristiano Ronaldo has the best goal/game ratio with 1.03, Puskas’ goal/game ratio stood at 0.92.

Ferenc Puskas also won a number of trophies with Real Madrid during his stint at the Spanish club. He won the European Cup three times, the Intercontinental Cup once, the La Liga title five times,, and the Spanish Cup once with Real Madrid.

Hugo Sanchez

Seventh on the list of Real Madrid’s all-time top goalscorers is Hugo Sanchez. The Mexican forward plied his trade for Real Madrid between 1985 and 1992. The now 65-year-old appeared in a total of 282 games for Real Madrid and registered 208 goals for the club.

He won the La Liga title five times with Real Madrid during his seven-year stay with the La Liga behemoths. Hugo Sanchez also won the Spanish Super Cup thrice, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Cup once each with Real Madrid. 

Paco Gento

Paco Gento became a Real Madrid player in 1953 and remained at the club till his retirement from professional football in 1971. During his 18-year stay at Real Madrid, Gento featured in a total of 601 games and scored 182 goals in those games. 

Paco Gento plied his trade as a left winger and had a trophy-laden spell with Real Madrid. Gento won the La Liga 12 times, the European Cup six times, the Copa del Generalísimo twice, and the Intercontinental Cup once. Gento also holds the record for the player with most European Cup title wins. No other player has managed to win the European Cup six times.

Pirri

Pirri began his professional football career with Granada in 1963 and ended it with Puebla in 1982. But he spent the majority of his club football career with Real Madrid. He signed for Real Madrid in 1964 and stayed at the club till 1980. 

Pirri plied his trade as a central midfielder in the early stages of his career but finished up as a sweeper. During his time at Real Madrid, Pirri appeared in 561 games for Los Blancos and scored 172 goals. An impressive tally for a midfielder.

Pirri won the La Liga titles 10 times, Copa del Rey four times, and European Cup once with Real Madrid. Real Madrid appointed the now 78-year-old as their honorary president earlier this year, in July.

Emilio Butragueño

The now 60-year-old also spent the majority of his professional football career with Real Madrid. Butragueño progressed through Real Madrid’s youth ranks before making his senior team debut for the club in 1984.

The Spanish striker played for Real Madrid between 1984 and 1995. He featured in 463 games for Real Madrid during that time and racked up 171 goals. His Real Madrid stint was also trophy-laden as he won the La Liga six times, Spanish Super Cup four times, Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup twice each, Copa Iberoamericana and Copa de la Liga once each with Los Blancos.
