Xavi Hernandez post-match press conference after Barcelona vs Villarreal: The Catalan outfit earned all three points from the fixture as they secured a 4-3 win.
Speaking after the Barcelona vs Villarreal match, Xavi Hernandez said that the result was fair but also claimed they deserved more goals in the game. The Barcelona manager also admitted they were bad in defence as the Catalan outfit conceded three goals in the game.
Against Villarreal, Barcelona opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Gavi. The Catalan outfit then doubled their lead just three minutes later, courtesy of a goal from Frenkie de Jong.
However, Villarreal clawed their way back into the game and took the lead. Goals from Juan Foyth, Alexander Sorloth and Alex Baena saw Villarreal go up 3-2 against Barcelona. However, Ferran Torres scored in the 68th and Robert Lewandowski in the 71st minute as Barcelona edged Villarreal out of the game.

Barcelona vs Villarreal: “The result in the end was fair”, Xavi
Speaking at the post-match press conference after Barcelona vs Villarreal, Xavi said Barcelona should have scored more goals and conceded that they were bad in defence.
“It was a very good match in general. We should have scored two or three more goals. We were bad in defence,” Xavi Hernandez said [via Barca Universal] after the Barcelona vs Villarreal game.
“After the 0-2, we conceded a lot of chances. Our mistakes cost us. After the 3-2, we started playing good football. The result in the end was fair, we deserved more goals.”
16-year-old Lamine Yamal was impressive for Barcelona against Villarreal. Speaking about the youngster’s performance, Xavi Hernandez said: “Lamine is a starter because we can see he makes the difference for us. He’s smart and makes good decisions.”

He added: “Of course, he surprises me, like he does to everyone else. His best quality is his decision-making, it’s almost always correct.”
“Talent is valued, and Lamine Yamal is a differential player.”
Barcelona now sit third in the La Liga points table. The Catalan outfit have seven points from three matches and are tied on points with second-placed Girona. Real Madrid occupy the first place, with nine points from three matches.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will square off with Osasuna in their next game in La Liga. That game will kick off at 12:30 a.m. Indian Standard Time on September 4.
