IND VS NZ 2021: Indian Cricket is in the safe hands with Rahul Dravid as a head says Sunil Gavaskar

IND VS NZ 2021: Rahul Dravid – Since his debut at Lord’s when Dravid scored 95 runs to the famous victory at Adelaide in 2003. This Karnataka cricketer has been one of the greats of the game, especially in test cricket with his expectational batting abilities.

After their retirement, Dravid had been the coach of the under-19 team India for the long period. Well after the Ravi Shastri exit as a head coach of team India there were earlier speculations that Tom Moddy can be team India coach as he expressed his concern over the post earlier.

But the cricket board has cleared it all and appointed Rahul Dravid as the head coach of team India. Rahul Dravid will start his tenure of head coach with the New Zealand T20 series today. Talking over this the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar believes the Indian Cricket is in the safe hands now.

“Straight through his playing days, there was the assurance to the team when Rahul Dravid is at the crease. The kind of the stability he brought in the lineup during his playing days was something people still gossip about. While as the head coach we believe Dravid will have the same approach like his batting to the team,” Gavaskar highlighted.

Virat Kohli will not be part of the first assignment of Rahul Dravid as head coach. In his absence, Rohit Sharma has appointed as the captain of the team for the T20 series. With both having similar natures Sunil Gavaskar believes both will work together easily.

“If we look at both the cricketers they are of quite similar approach and they will have good communication as both understand each other well,” Gavaskar says.

IND VS NZ 2021 Series

The T20 series will start on 17 November under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma followed by 2-match test series after the limited-overs fixtures. Although Virat Kohli will not be a part of the series. But the board has missed the chance to select the right player for the series.

Still, after performing consistently in the IPL, players like Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill are sidelined along with Rahul Tripathi. Even experienced player like Ambati Rayudu remains the second choice of the selectors over others.

New Zealand will come into the series after losing another T20 World Cup final to Australia. Kane Williamson has played captain knock of 85 runs in the final but again bowlers had failed to restrict the oppositions.

Rahul Dravid or Sachin Tendulkar the better batsman

Through his playing days to post-retirement, there is always question the better batsman of his era between Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Tendulkar made his debut way before Dravid in 1989 against while Dravid made his debut against England in 1996.

Sachin Tendulkar has more runs in his career while Dravid had performed when the team required it the most against any team. Rahul Dravid had scored a century against every Test-playing nation whereas Sachin Tendulkar don’t have this milestone in his career.

If we go by the runs Sachin Tendulkar remains the best batsman of his era but in terms of impact and pure class, Rahul Dravid stands above the little master easily.

The way of writing a little bit has pulled me even in the hope of doing something different, among those great writers.
