IPL 2022: The Indian Premier League fever is already back on after the recent conclusion of the fourteenth edition. Moreover, Chennai Super Kings were thoroughly crowned as the Champions of the IPL.
However, the BCCI is set to advance the footprints of the IPL in the coming days and coming months. The BCCI will set up the mega fifteenth edition of the IPL. However, it is also likely that the next edition will take place in India.
Moreover, the previous two editions of the IPL happened in the UAE. It was primarily due to the deteriorating condition regarding the novel disease of COVID-19. However, the BCCI did shift back the IPL to India for the first phase but it was soon cancelled out.
Hence, the BCCI shifted the IPL back to the UAE. Moreover, the gala Indian tournament was a complete success for the Indian cricket Board. Though the matches did not see massive crowds due to COVID-19 but the Indian cricket Board still went on to earn significant amounts.
However, the BCCI has already set the wheels for the inclusion of two new teams. The IPL is going to have two new teams from the next cycle. And the expansion is all set to go ahead in the coming days. This will further see growth in the Indian Premier League.
Many top business ventures from across the world showed interest in the two new IPL teams. But only a few could cut the final bidding process. Moreover, the process recently took place in the UAE with the major faces of the BCCI present there.
IPL 2022: Ahmedabad and Lucknow to be the two new teams
The hour’s long process of bidding for two new IPL teams has finally concluded. Moreover, Ahmedabad and Lucknow have been announced as the two new teams which will join the IPL.
However, the process took a lot of time due to intense bidding from nine business entities. Moreover, among those were also the Glazers represented by Avram Glazer who are the owners of Manchester United.
But RP Sanjeev Goenka group and CVC Capital won the bids for the two new IPL teams. Moreover, the RPSG group won the bid for Lucknow while CVC Capital won the bid for Ahmedabad.
Both the teams went very far for their respective teams and unfortunately, Adani Group has missed out. Moreover, this is a huge miss for the Adani group and the Glazers since they were known as the front runners for the two new IPL teams.
However, the insane amount of bids from the RPSG group and CVC Capital changed everything. RPSG group bid a whopping amount of ₹7,090 crore and CVC Capital bid ₹5600 crores.
Moreover, such an amount could not be matched up by anyone in the room. And not even Adani Group Or the Glazers could match that amount that is close to $1 billion.
