John Cena wants UFC megastar Conor McGregor to join WWE

WWE superstar John Cena believes that UFC megastar Conor McGregor would be a great fit in WWE. The American wrestler admitted that McGregor would be a “fantastic” addition to the company should he choose to swap the Octagon for the squared circle.

Cena has become a popular household name through his influence in professional wrestling and Hollywood stardom. Now, the 16-time WWE World Champion is hoping to lure in MMA icon Conor McGregor in WWE.

McGregor has risen to fame with his stellar career in the UFC. The Irish fighter has also made a huge name for himself in the business world. McGregor’s whiskey company has also made him a small fortune.

However, the UFC icon has the backing of John Cena, if he wishes to join WWE in the future. McGregor last fought in the Octagon in July, where he was defeated by Dustin Poirier.

John Cena urging Conor McGregor to join WWE?

Earlier this week, John Cena spoke to Dan Patrick on the That Scene with Dan Patrick podcast. The 44-year-old provided his opinion on potentially seeing McGregor in the WWE ring.

He said, “He (McGregor) would be fantastic. He is what we do. What he does is a little less predictable. Our surprises are getting people to show up at random, and trying to weave the choose-your-own-adventure to a different alley.

McGregor is currently recovering from a broken ankle he suffered following his TKO loss against Poirier. The 33-year-old has now lost two consecutive fights in the UFC against Poirier, with the American now holding a 2-1 advantage in the trilogy.

“His surprises are getting a few teeth knocked out or getting an operation. Not to say that doesn’t happen with us, mistakes happen with us. But in his profession, it’s not a mistake. It’s a certainty.”

Will McGregor join WWE in the future?

Conor McGregor currently has a 22-6 record in MMA. However, he has retired from the sport before eventually making a comeback. While many fans believe that McGregor has lost his desire to compete at the highest level in the UFC, the fighter remains adamant that he is still looking to achieve greatness in the sport.

Now, it remains to be seen whether Conor will return to the Octagon after recovering from his broken ankle. The former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight champion will have a decision to make upon his recovery.

McGregor has taken a swipe at the WWE business in the past. He engaged in some banter with WWE Superstar and fellow Irishman Finn Balor last February, and Triple H interjected to let him know that McGregor was welcome.

Meanwhile, Cena flew back to Hollywood after his Summerslam PPV loss against Roman Reigns in a Universal Championship. There are speculations that he might return on the Madison Square Garden edition of WWE Smackdown next week, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
