Juventus Transfer News: Juve are close to bringing Paris Saint Germain star Di Maria to Turin. The Argentinian was eyed by Barcelona as well but now Juventus seem to be in control of the race.
According to Goal.com, the former Real Madrid star will sign a one-year deal with the Italian giants. He will join the club as a free agent after his contract expired with PSG.
The Old Lady first made contact with him in April regarding a move. After that, there were several discussions as well. At one stage it looked like the deal won’t happen as Di Maria preferred to sign for Barca.
However, it looks unlikely the Spanish giants will sign him. They continue to struggle with their own financial woes. While the former Manchester United winger will sign a one-year contract with the club.

At age of 34, the Argentinian is very fit and fine. He will certainly add more experience on the wings for the club. Currently, they don’t have a left-footed winger in thier squad as well. Both Dejan Kulusevski and Paulo Dybala left the club this year.
However, the former Benfica star is only a short-term option. But Juve fans will be hopeful he can continue for a long time. We have already seen how players in their late 30s are able to perform very well in Serie A.
Not only this the player himself wants to continue in Europe. However, he intends to return to his homeland Argentina next year. He still wants to play at the highest level. At the Allianz Stadium, he has an opportunity to do that.
Juve is constantly playing Champions League football as well. Also, the World Cup will be in the winter in Qatar this time. The Argentinian wants to play in a competitive league before going into the tournament.
Juventus Transfer News: Potential positions where Di Maria could play
Under Massimiliano Allegri Juve have often been very pragmatic and more defensive. However, it was the 4-3-3 formation that he found major of his success. Even in that formation, Dybala would slot on the right flank.

Thus it is likely that he will slot on the right hand for the Bianconeri. However, last season Juan Cuadrado occupied the right-hand side. The Colombian was very effective as well. Last season he was one of their best players.
While Di Maria as a player is versatile enough to be on the left flank as well. Although Federico Chiesa has been occupying that spot. But the Italian has just recovered from a long-term injury.
It remains to be seen how effective he will be. While the Argentine is also not a guaranteed starter. The Ligue 1 is far less competitive than Serie A. Only time will tell how he manages to adjust in Turin.
