In reply, Colombo Stars found support in the form of Dinesh Chandimal and captain Dhananjaya de Silva. Chandimal scored 65 off 40 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 hits over the fence.
Dhananjaya de Silva scored 33 off 30 balls including 3 fours and a six. After Dhananjaya de Silvabatsmen got out, Colombo Stars relied on Chandimal and lower-order batsmen to score runs in the need of the hour.
The game was stretched to the fag end of the innings when Colombo Stars required 13 runs off 6 balls. Chandimal got off to a terrific start to the over by smashing a boundary off the very first ball off Karunaratne.

After that, Chandimal took a single to rotate the strike to Dushmantha Chameera. When 8 runs were required off the 4 balls, Chameera got out on the very first ball. Meanwhile, Chandimal who got back to the striker’s end did not take a run off the 4th ball.
Karunaratne bowled a full-length delivery and to which Chandimal scored 2 runs. With six required off the final ball, Chandimal couldn’t pull off the trick as he only managed to score a boundary.
As a result, Dambulla Giants won the game by a run. Dhananjaya de Silva, the losing captain, at the post-match presentation said: “It was a hard-fought game and unfortunately one team had to lose. We need runs from the top-order, if that happens, we’ll be in the game big time.”
