Manchester United News: The Red Devils have had a miserable season since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure. They were making little progress under the Norwegian manager. Hence, the board had decided to part ways with Solskjaer.
Since then many managers had been considered but very few got the nod. Ralf Rangnick came into the picture at the last moment.
But before that Manchester United had a chance to sign Mauricio Pochettino for a mere £15m. The Manchester Evening News has revealed this shocking fee fumble that cost us the season.
The club has been making errors after errors in the transfer market. They needed a manager and they were so hesitant to pay a mere £15m, seriously?
Manchester United news: Not appointing Pochettino was a mistake?
Yes, it was the case for the club. A team that has been filled with high-profile players failed to sign a much-needed manager. Feels like a joke then, turned into a reality now.
Manchester United has been making big money moves over the years. They signed Paul Pogba for a record fee, signed Harry Maguire for a record fee as well. They are already paying wages up to £300k a week for many of their first-team players.
But they fumbled to sign Mauricio Pochettino when he was available for just £15m. Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t stand in our way.
What would have been the ideal approach?
The realistic approach would have been signing the Argentinian manager immediately after they sacked Solskjaer. This could have saved our season.
But the board signed German tactician Ralf Rangnick from Lokomotiv Moscow. Consider the fact that just saving that much amount of money, they are already losing millions.
Manchester United is at the seventh position in the league table. The defeat against Everton has made things difficult for the club.
There are chances that we may not even play the Champions League next season. That means, losing millions through sponsorship, branding, and the league itself.

Will things change at Manchester United?
Signing a top-class manager is the need of the hour. Whether it’s Erik Ten Hag or Mauricio Pochettino. Ralf Rangnick will leave at the end of the season.
The Dutchman is close to joining for a mere £1.7m fee from Ajax. Their budget would be seriously affected if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
This also means that the incoming manager will have a hard time rebuilding the squad in the initial few years due to a lack of funds. However, making smart signings could help us balance the financial books.
