Manchester United News: Erik Ten Hag has been the bookies’ favourites to take over the Manchester United job. However, the current Ajax manager accused his soon-to-be employers of committing a “grave sin.”
After being interviewed for the role on Monday, the 52-year-old appears to be closing in on the United job. After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired last year, Ralf Rangnick has been working as the interim manager.
However, when Rangnick’s contract expires on June 1, he is anticipated to take on a consulting role. Ten Hag is presently the favourite, but he has called out the club’s decision-making.
Ten Hag isn’t one to hold back his feelings, as the Dutchman accused United of committing a “grave sin” by signing Ajax’s Donny van de Beek. The midfielder was sold by Ten Hag for £40 million in 2020.

Van van Beek was a standout performance for Ajax, but he is now on loan at Everton hoping to get valuable game time before the World Cup. Some speculations suggest that Manchester United wants Ten Hag to get the most out of Van de Beek in midfield.
Ten Hag has shown disappointment in Donny’s game time at the club under two different managers, Solskjaer and Rangnick. “Donny, I find it difficult,” the 52-year-old told De Volkskrant in December. It’s a [deadly] sin.
“If you haven’t had an opportunity to do so yet, the development will be stifled as well. You give them encouragement now and again.” However, if Ten Hag is chosen, he may be the finest person to follow his own advice.
Donny van de Beek, a failed transfer?
Van De Beek joined United in the summer of 2020 but his time in England has been deemed as a failed transfer. After attempting to leave in the summer, the Dutchman eventually got his loan move after rarely getting a look-in since 2020.
Van de Beek’s future at United could be determined by the club’s next manager. The current Ajax manager appears to be the favourite, but Pochettino has Premier League experience.
