Manchester United Transfer news: The Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag wants to sign goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
Sommer has been a consistent performer for Borussia Mönchengladbach since joining from FC Basel in 2014. He has played 264 Bundesliga games so far, registering 69 clean sheets.
The 33-year-old was included in the 2019-20’s Bundesliga Team of the Season and also won the Credit Suisse Player of the Year on three separate occasions.
Sommer is also a key member of Switzerland’s squad and made 74 appearances for the Swiss since earning his first international cap in 2012.

According to the transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have shown interest in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
The Red Devils are looking to buy a new goalkeeper this transfer window after sending Dean Henderson on loan to Sheffield United. They currently only have David de Gea and Tom Heaton as senior goalkeepers in their squad. Sommer’s arrival will be a much-needed boost for them as they look to compete for top prices this season.
The 33-year-old’s current contract at Borussia Park will expire at the end of next season. However, the Foals have reportedly offered him a new contract which will keep him at the club until next season.
It will take a lot of persuasion from Erik ten Hag to convene Sommer as a deputy for David de Gea. if the deal does go through, the Swiss will become the Red Devils’ fourth signing of the transfer window after Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen.

Sommer is a veteran goalkeeper whose key strengths are his shot stopping, reflexes and ability to dominate the box. He is also known for his penalty-saving ability, saving 23 penalties in his career so far.
Sommer is excellent with his feet as well and has registered on assists during the 2021-22 season.

Manchester United have started the season poorly, enduring defeats in their first two games. They will look to register their first victory of the season when they face Liverpool on August 23.
