IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians have already started preparing for IPL 2023. The uncapped players of the team will tour England in July to prepare for the IPL. During this exposure tour, several new players of Mumbai Indians will play at least 10 T20 matches against the top club. According to recent reports, young guns like Arjun Tendulkar and Dewald Brevis will also participate in these matches.
Many young uncapped players will be part of this tour
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene will accompany these players to England and closely watch their progress. A source related to IPL gave information about this. Talking to PTI, he said,
“Players like Tilak Verma, Kumar Karthikeya, Ramandeep Singh, and Hrithik Shokeen will play against top T20 clubs in England. Arjun Tendulkar, presently in England, and South African young player Dewald Brevis can also be a part of this team. India’s domestic season is over. Players like Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah are busy with the national team.
At the same time, our international players are also playing matches with their respective teams. In such a situation, the young uncapped players will not get a chance to practice, that is why the decision of this tour has been taken.
Let us tell you that IPL 2022 proved to be the worst season ever for Mumbai Indians. Last season the team won only four out of 14 matches. Apart from this, he faced defeat in his first eight matches, which is an embarrassing record. The team does not want to leave any stone unturned to prepare for the next season.
IPL 2023: Focus on young players
“Our younger players must be closely monitored because they will not have any match practice for three and a half months before the start of the next domestic season.”
“We can’t call it a pre-season trip because the IPL is still nine months away.” However, it is attempting to track the progress of our core group of young people in the future,” he added.
MI, on the other hand, does not require BCCI permission for this trip unless the team is playing exhibition games against other franchises or overseas T20 sides.
“This is not a commercial trip where tickets will be sold, or the game will be broadcast on a specific channel or streamed on an app. We do not need to apply for permission from BCCI because the trip will not generate revenue, “He informed them.
“We are only taking players to the UK who are not involved in any national team activities, have not been summoned for any of the BCCI-organized camps, and are not playing in any league (such as the TNPL).”
