Eric Gordon’s Dissatisfaction With the Rebuilding Houston Rockets Grows Amid Trade Speculations

Eric Gordon's dissatisfaction with the rebuilding Houston Rockets grows amid trade speculations

Eric Gordon expressed his displeasure with the Houston Rockets’ lack of progress over the previous two years. Except for Gordon, the Rockets have committed to a rebuild and have relocated all of their older players. He is one of the most sought-after trade targets ahead of the deadline.

Eric Gordon was a professional while working with Houston’s young players. He seemed to have run out of patience. His most recent interview hints at this.

When asked if the Rockets have progressed since last year, Eric Gordon responded as follows (via Jackson Gatlin): “There is no progress.”

The Houston Rockets have a record of 10-26 this season. Gordon has started all but six games this season. On 40/34/81 splits, he averages 11.2 points. Gordon’s dissatisfaction is understandable, given that he has the option to play for a strong contender and fight for a title rather than the Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes.

Eric Gordon, 34, does not have many years left at the elite level. It would have been a perfect opportunity for him to make a move.

Six contenders are in negotiations with the Houston Rockets about trading Eric Gordon

The Houston Rockets have been patient in their decision to trade Eric Gordon. They lack senior players to help develop the youthful club led by Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr. Meanwhile, the wait has been extended because Houston wants to maximise the profits in trade situations.

According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Rockets have spoken with six competing teams about a deal for Eric Gordon.

The previous Sixth Man of the Year was able to keep his stats steady while playing for a lottery club, so his effect will likely be greater if he plays with the league’s superstars on competing teams.

Eric Gordon’s current deal expires at the conclusion of the season. It’s a non-guaranteed contract, and the Rockets will almost certainly amend it if he isn’t traded before the deadline next month. They have the financial means to do so. The Rockets will demand multiple first-round selections in exchange for Eric Gordon and are reluctant to part ways with him until they receive the asking price.

However, it will be intriguing to watch how the Rockets handle the Eric Gordon situation following the player’s fiery post-game news conference.

We’re still a few months away from the Feb. 9 trade deadline, when things often ramp up, so a large portion of Houston’s inbound calls have been blueprints of what clubs are attempting to accomplish in the near and long term.
