“A lot of new faces,”- Coach Jason Kidd drops indication towards a redecorated Dallas Mavericks in NBA 2023-24

"A lot of new faces,"- Coach Jason Kidd drops indication towards a redecorated Dallas Mavericks in NBA 2023-24

After losing to the Chicago Bulls on Friday, the Dallas Mavericks were officially out of the running for a spot in the playoffs. As a direct consequence of this, big shifts are going to take place this summer.

The Dallas Mavericks 2022–2023 NBA season was pretty much over on Friday night when they lost to the Chicago Bulls and were officially out of the playoff race.

Many people saw this game as one of the clearest examples of tanking in recent years. In a strict sense, they still have one game left, which will be played on Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs.

Even Dallas’s harshest critics couldn’t have predicted that the Dallas Mavericks would be so bad that they wouldn’t even make the play-in round after losing Jalen Brunson to free agency in the summer.

The Dallas Mavericks will play one more game before going on their summer break, and the focus will then shift to the offseason, where head coach Jason Kidd anticipates there will be substantial changes. This will mark the beginning of the next phase of the story. After his team’s loss to the Bulls on Friday, Kidd stated that “a lot of folks won’t be back next season. There will be a significant number of new people there.

Kidd has received a lot of criticism during his second season as the head coach of the Mavericks; nevertheless, in the last week, both the owner, Mark Cuban, and the general manager, Nico Harrison, have stated that they believe in him and that “he’s still our guy.” Based on all of this, it seems likely that the Dallas Mavericks will make a big and long-overdue change to their team this summer.

Dallas Mavericks Will Have a Wide Variety of Trade Options to Consider

Dallas’s main goal right now is to keep great point guard Kyrie Irving on the team. That represents the single most important move that can be made to improve the chances of the team’s future season. Because the NBA Draft will take place one week before free agency, the Dallas Mavericks will have the opportunity to make significant personnel modifications before making their pitch to Irving.

At this point, it is not a given that the Dallas Mavericks will have a top-10 pick in the NBA draft. There is always the potential that the Mavericks would rank 11th on lottery night, which would allow the New York Knicks to draught first overall.

If the Mavericks choose to keep their pick, Dallas will have a wide variety of trade options to consider. These options include trading up for more useful win-now players or trading down in the draught to acquire a higher pick. If the Mavericks decide to keep their pick, Dallas will have the opportunity to explore all of these options.

Kidd said, “Sometimes you have to take a step back” to build a championship-winning team. The current iteration of our plan is “We Trust Cuban and Nico to Put the Pieces Together,” with the end goal being to put us in a position to win a championship.

It is no longer possible for these Dallas Mavericks to ignore the truth about their situation. They have had their masks completely removed, and all of their weaknesses have been exposed to the world. Following the disappointing showing in the Western Conference Finals of the previous season, it is time to begin again.
