Best in the league, the undermanned OKC Thunder defeated the Boston Celtics by a score of 150–117 on Tuesday evening. Five different Thunder players scored 20 points or more during this period, which was permitted by the Celtics. The disappointing defeat, according to Celtics All-Star wing Jaylen Brown, was brought on by the team’s inconsistent play and lack of concentration.
Jaylen Brown remarked following the game, “We probably got what we deserved… we select when to play… they embarrassed us.”
Josh Giddey, a sophomore guard, served as the Thunder’s leader. Giddey finished with a season-high 25 points on 66.7% shooting, five rebounds, and five assists. In addition, Thunder wing Lu Dort scored 23 points, while OKC’s Isaiah Joe, Tre Mann, and Jalen Williams each scored 21 points.
Overall, the Thunder’s victory required a team effort since they had to step up without standout guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGA missed the game because of sickness. SGA leads the Thunder in scoring with an average of 30.8 points per game.
The Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown scored 29 points on 61.1% of his shots. Superstar forward Jayson Tatum chipped up with 27 points and six rebounds on 52.9% shooting at the same time. However, it is clear from the final score of the game that the Celtics’ biggest problem was not scoring.
The victory raised OKC’s record to 16-21, placing them in 12th place in the Western Conference.
While losing their previous two games, Boston still has the best record in the NBA with a 26-12 record. The Celtics will need to restore more consistency, as Jaylen Brown pointed out, in order to keep their place at the top of the NBA.
Interim Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla on the team’s humiliating loss and Jaylen Brown
Following the humiliating season-worst 33-point defeat to OKC, interim Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla expressed a similar opinion to Jaylen Brown.
Mazzulla outlined how every night. Jaylen Brown’s squad must be prepared to take the greatest shots from other teams.
The Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown recently made it to the 2022 NBA Finals. So it makes it reasonable that their rivals would have a bit of additional drive to topple them from their throne. The Celtics will now need to keep coming up with nightly solutions to this situation.
On Thursday, when they play the 22-16 Dallas Mavericks on the road, Boston will have another opportunity to win. Dallas has a seven-game winning run going, so the Celtics will undoubtedly need to play better if they want to prevail.
