Rookie Keegan Murray in Warriors vs Kings game

In Game 4 of the NBA playoffs 2023 between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors, Kings’ rookie Keegan Murray had a breakout performance. Murray scored a career-high 23 points. Although Murray’s impressive display proved to be short as the Kings suffered a narrow defeat to the Warriors.

Keegan Murray had struggled in the first three games of the series. He scored only 10 points in total, but he found his rhythm in Game 4. He finished with nine-for-13 from the field, seven rebounds, and one assist. His points came at crucial moments throughout the game, helping to extend the Kings’ lead or respond to Golden State’s superstar squad.

The Warriors had initially taken a 2-0 lead in the series. Although, the Kings managed to fight back. Now the Warriors vs Kings NBA playoffs series stands at an even score of 2-2. As the series heads back to Sacramento for Game 5, rookie Keegan Murray’s improved performance could be a turning point for the Kings.

Keegan Murray’s fit alongside De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis has been unquestionable. His contribution in the regular season was pivotal to the Kings’ core. He averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

Despite the loss, the Kings’ fans at Chase Center were electrified by the close game. Apparently, it was more a matter of survival than prosperity for the Warriors. In the final seconds of the Warriors vs Kings game, the home team (Warriors) double-teamed Fox, who passed the ball to Harrison Barnes at the 3-point arc. Barnes missed the wide-open 3-ball. Steph Curry and Draymond Green led Sacramento Warriors held on to tie the Western Conference series at two games apiece.

As the Kings look to take the lead in Game 5, Murray’s improved performance could be a key factor in their success.
