Draymond Green, star forward for the Golden State Warriors, has been suspended for one game after receiving a Flagrant 2 foul and being ejected in Game 2 of the Warriors’ first-round playoff series against the Kings. Green stomped on Kings center Domantas Sabonis‘ chest after the two collided under the basket. This incident took place during the fourth quarter of the game. Also, the Warriors lost to the Kings 114-106.
The NBA officially announced Green’s suspension on Tuesday night. NBA stated that his “history of unsportsmanlike acts” played a part in the decision. Green has been ejected 17 times in his 11-year career, and this is his fourth suspension, the second during playoffs. This suspension will force Green to miss Game 3 against the Kings at Chase Center without pay.
Initially, it was believed that Green was unlikely to receive a suspension. It was expected that he would receive a fine instead. However, this was not the case, and the actual punishment proved to be much more costly for Green and the Warriors.
