NBA Insider Updates Dillon Brooks Will Not Be Welcomed Back to Memphis Grizzlies ‘Under Any Circumstances’

Dillon Brooks update regarding Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have decided not to bring back Dillon Brooks for the next season, regardless of the circumstances. After a tumultuous end to the season, the Grizzlies have apparently given their Dillon Brooks update in the recent exit meetings. Sources revealed that the team and Brooks mutually agreed to part ways and start fresh.

Dillon Brooks, who spent his entire six-year NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies, was the longest-tenured player on the team. He was known for his gritty defensive skills and being the heart and soul of the team. He has often been considered a fiery and gritty defender who speaks his mind without fear.

Not everything lasts forever. As per the Dillon Brooks update, the 27-year-old player’s series against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs was considered to be the breaking point for the team’s management.

During the six-game series in the NBA playoffs, Brooks called LeBron James “old”, “tired”. Brooks suggested that he was not as good as he used to be. He punched James in the groin area in Game 3, resulting in an ejection. In Game 4, he missed a defensive assignment to help James on the game-tying basket.

He also gave up a critical basket to James in the overtime of that loss. Brooks also chose not to speak to the media after three of the losses in the series. It resulted in a $25,000 fine by the NBA.

The Lakers capitalized on Brooks’ poor performance during the series and left him open to shoot. He shot 31.2 percent from the field and 23.8 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 10.5 points and taking almost 13 shots per game.

The Memphis Grizzlies did update Dillon Brooks about a contract extension offer early in the season. However, it was rejected and led to the end of the talks. However, the team will be “very aggressive” in the upcoming offseason, according to Zach Kleiman, Grizzlies executive vice president of basketball operations. Memphis has up to five first-round picks and up to three draft swaps to utilize in prospective trades.

The Memphis Grizzlies’ Dillon Brooks update clearly signifies that the team management has decided to move on after his controversial end to the season. Despite being the heart and soul of the team, his performance against the Lakers left a bitter taste in the team’s management. The Grizzlies are now looking forward to being aggressive in the offseason. They’ll be eyeing several first-round picks and draft swaps at their disposal.
