Paris Saint-Germain News: Even though the Parisians won Ligue 1 last season, two of their biggest stars didn’t have the best seasons. The animosity between Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos during a preseason training session in Japan was not lacking.
Messi scored the goal that gave his new side the championship, but he only managed 11 goals throughout the season, his lowest total since 2005–06. Ramos, meanwhile, was limited by injury after joining Les Parisiens from Real Madrid and only made 13 appearances.
As PSG continues to get ready for their debut season under new boss Christophe Galtier, the two players squared off in practice.
In the Far East, despite the fact that they now played for the same team. There was no love lost between the erstwhile rivals. They have worked hard to prove to the world that they respected one another since arriving in Paris.
Paris Saint-Germain News: Messi and Ramos in a tangle
PSG has been in Japan for their preseason schedule and has won three of their three games. In two of those wins, Messi scored, including a goal in the first half of a 6-2 victory over Gamba Osaka.
Fans have also been treated to open training sessions by Galtier’s team. But in one of these, Ramos incurred the fury of his colleague, and things got a bit sticky.
As Messi tries to elude Ramos, the Spaniard can be seen catching him. While the crowd clapped in celebration of the score, Messi threw Ramos a protracted and piercing look as he successfully avoided the challenge and fired into the bottom corner of the net.
Views of Galtier on Neymar
At the beginning of July, Galtier was officially named PSG’s new manager, taking over for Mauricio Pochettino. The Frenchman has previously worked at Nice after guiding Lille to the Ligue 1 championship in 2020–21.
Neymar has been linked to moves away from the Parc des Princes. Therefore the new manager immediately stated his position on him. The Brazilian scored his 100th goal for the team last season after moving to PSG in a world-record transfer from Barcelona in 2017.
The 55-year-old stated earlier in the summer to RMC Sport, “Which coach would not desire to have a player like him in his team? I know exactly what Neymar will be able to do for me. I’ll talk with him and listen to him, but I want him to stay with us.”
In preparation for the forthcoming campaign, PSG has already acquired three new acquisitions. This includes a permanent transfer for Nuno Mendes following his loan season last year.
Vitinha, a former Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee, has closed a high-profile transfer from Porto. Whereas Hugo Ekitike has joined on loan from Reims with a permanent transfer anticipated for next summer.
