PSG news: Sergio Ramos is among the most talented defenders of his generation. The Spain international joined Paris St. Germain from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window of 2021. He struggled with injuries during his debut season at the club, managing to make just 12 appearances in the league.
However, he has looked sharp since the start of the current season, featuring in all of the Parisians’ opening seven league games. Ramos will be a key player for PSG this term as they look to retain their French crown, along with winning the UEFA Champions League.
Nevertheless, the 36-year-old defender is in the final year of his contract at the Parc des Princes. He could leave the Paris outfit for free at the end of the current season.

PSG News: The Parisians keen to extend Sergio Ramos’ contract

Paris St. Germain’s sporting director Luis Campos provides an update on Sergio Ramos’ future. Speaking to the media, he said: “I’m happy with Sergio Ramos, so if he keeps performing like this… why not?, having a very good season, and the same for Leo Messi — would be good to extend both contracts”
Lionel Messi is another key player whose PSG contract will expire at the end of the current season. The Paris outfit are keen to extend his stay but Messi will only decide his future after the FIFA World Cup later this year.
Luis Enrique left out Sergio Ramos from the Spain squad
Spain manager Luis Enrique snubbed Sergio Ramos from his squad for UEFA Nations League games against Switzerland and Portugal.
When questioned about Ramos’ exclusion, Enrique said (via Marca): “I can tell you what you want, but I think the best ones to play as central defenders are the central defenders that are here”.
Ramos has played a key role in Spain’s success in recent years. He has represented his nation 180 times since making his debut in 2005. Ramos helped the Red Fury win the FIFA World Cup in 2010, along with two UEFA European Championships.
The 36-year-old defender hasn’t featured in the Spanish squad for the last 18 months. He could consider retiring from international football if he fails to make it to the Iberian nation’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
