Real Madrid news: Manager Carlo Ancelotti heaped praise on Eden Hazard after the Belgian’s impressive performance in their win over Celtic.
Real Madrid kicked-off their Champions League 22/23 campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Scottish side Celtic. The Champions League holders scored all three goals in the second half after the first half ended goalless.
Hazard was not in the Real Madrid starting XI for the game, but he came off the bench on the hour mark. Karim Benzema picked up a knee problem in the first half and Ancelotti replaced the Frenchman with Hazard.
Hazard was impressive after his arrival, scoring Real Madrid’s third goal of the game. He also assisted their second goal, scored by Luka Modric.

Speaking after the match, Ancelotti was full of praise for Hazard. Ancelotti said that he thought it was Hazard’s moment when he subbed him on and that the Belgian proved him right.
Ancelotti also said Hazard is happy and expressed hope the 31-year-old continues like that. “I thought it was Hazard’s moment when I brought him on, and he proved me right. He’s very happy, I hope he continues like that,” Ancelotti said after the match.
Meanwhile, against Celtic, Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 56th minute of the match. Real Madrid made it 2-0 just four minutes later, at the hour mark, with Modric scoring from Hazard’s assist.
Hazard picked up the ball from the middle, and skipped away from a Celtic player before laying it off to Modric. The Croatian midfielder then showed great composure to score the goal.
Hazard’s goal came in the 77th minute of the match. Toni Kroos played a cross into the box and then Dani Carvajal sent it across the face of the post, which Hazard duly converted.
With the win over Celtic, Real Madrid maintained their 100% win record in the 22/23 season. Real Madrid have not yet dropped points in the 22/23 campaign. They began the season with a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup final
Real Madrid is unbeaten in La Liga this season, with 12 points from their first four matches. They sit top of the table, 2 points ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid host RCD Mallorca at Santiago Bernabeu in their next match in the Spanish top-flight.
