Real Madrid News: Los Blancos kicked-off their 2022/23 season in style as they defeated Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 to win the UEFA Super Cup.
Goals from David Alaba and Karim Benzema either side of the half time proved more than enough for Real Madrid to win their fifth UEFA Super Cup.
Real Madrid took the lead through Alaba in the 37th minute, with the defender putting the ball into an empty net. The goal came from a Real Madrid corner. First Benzema won the header, and then Casemiro headed the ball back across the middle for Alaba to tap home.
Real Madrid doubled their advantage on 65 minutes, this time Benzema finding the back of the net. Vinicius Jr was sent scampering down the left, and the Brazilian took the ball and cut in before playing a pass to Benzema, who, with a first time shot, beat the Frankfurt goalkeeper to seal Real Madrid’s victory.
