Real Madrid Transfer News: Los Blancos won't Sign Matthias Ginter

Real Madrid Transfer News: Real Madrid will not be signing Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter this month. They have turned down the opportunity to acquire the 28-year-old.

According to a report by Spanish site Defensa Central, Matthias Ginter was approached by Real Madrid on several occasions. They want a potential cut-price transfer during the January window. The Spanish giants, on the other hand, have no interest in signing the 28-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach defender during this month’s transfer window.

When Matthias Ginter joined Borussia Monchengladbach from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund in July 2017, he was regarded as a raw talent.

He has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga. He is also being a key member of Die Mannschaft’s defensive midfield.

Since joining Gladbach, the 28-year-old has made a total of 167 appearances, with 19 of them coming this season.

Matthias Ginter to leave?

He has declared that he will quit the Bundesliga club when his contract expires in the summer. Ginter is all-set to embark on a new journey. However, the player has also been offered to several teams in exchange for a reduced January transfer fee. Real Madrid is one of those clubs.

Los Blancos may want to sign a center-back in the summer transfer window to provide more competition for Militao and Alaba. Both of them are under contract until 2020. Even if the first-choice center-backs have been fairly reliable this season, the Real Madrid roster has very little talent beyond them.

Nacho is at best a backup option. He has shown to be a disappointment when it comes to starting games regularly. On top of that, Jesus Vallejo failed to impress Carlo Ancelotti with his abilities. He will almost certainly be sold at the first chance. Numerous teams, including Valencia, are showing interest in him.

Real Madrid Transfer News: What will Los Blancos do?

However, there is no indication that Real Madrid would sign a center-back this month. Reports linked them to all of their core defensive targets, including Presnel Kimpembe, indicating that a summer transfer is more likely.

As a result, it comes as no surprise that the Merengues have passed down the opportunity to sign Ginter during the current transfer window.

It has only happened a few times. When Real Madrid went into the January transfer window, they looked for reinforcements. That isn’t going to change this year. The team performed excellently across all competitions. Ancelotti is satisfied with the squad he currently has at his disposal. He will only make significant changes during the summer transfer window.

When it comes to Ginter, he is a January transfer target for several European teams, including Tottenham Hotspur. However, it is doubtful that he will leave Gladbach in the coming months.
