Roma’s President Blocks Player’s Move To Barcelona

AS Roma and Barcelona have had turbulent relations since Malcom’s transfer story. The Italians have now blocked their player’s move to Barca.

Dutch star Justin Kluivert has a world-class footballer in his immediate family. That is none other than his own father Patrick. His grandfather Kenneth Kluivert was also a player of Suriname. His father was the more successful and popular between the two and had an illustrious career. The Dutchman played for the likes of AC Milan and Barcelona in his career and was hailed among the few of the best players of his generation.

His son Justin is also a promising talent and has made a name for himself. Justin Kluivert is a graduate of Ajax Amsterdam’s youth academy. Since his debut for the Amsterdam Arena outfit, Kluivert made 44 appearances over two seasons scoring 12 goals in the grind. His form and playing style made him the subject of transfer speculation. Eventually, he was signed by Italian outfit AS Roma in June 2018. During his presentation, he made it clear that he wanted to the player for Barcelona which would be a ‘dream’ and follow his father’s steps.
However, Roma’s president James Pallotta has been affirmative to the 19-year old that he will never be sold to Barcelona, at least from their part. Relations between Roma and Barcelona were at peace in the last few years, but Malcom’s transfer incident has led to turbulence between the two clubs.
The Bordeaux man, as well as the club, had reached an agreement with Roma over the midfielder’s transfer. However, the French minnows refused to sell the 21-year-old to Roma after Barcelona came in with a huge offer. This had been a big incident in the transfer window and has strained Barcelona’s relations with another club after they became foes with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool over the transfers of Dembele and Coutinho.

AUTHOR’S TAKE:

While Justin Kluivert will be put off by James Pallotta’s comments, there is nothing that the young lad needs to worry about. In my opinion, Kluivert is too young to compete for a spot at Barcelona and will definitely head to another league ahead of a potential move to the Spanish giants.
